![]() The Story of Nickel O'Dean Back in the 3rd grade, there was a kid named Timmy O'Dean. He was kind of goofy, because you could hold out both hands, one with a nickel and the other with a dime. Then when you'd tell Timmy he could choose one of the coins and keep it, Timmy would always take the nickel. Some of the kids who liked to make fun of Timmy would bring a new friend or two over and would hold a nickel and a dime out to Timmy and say, "I've got two coins. Pick one and you can keep it!" Timmy would always chose the nickel and put it in his pocket with a big goofy grin on his face. Then when Timmy was asked, why did you pick the nickel, he would always say, "Because it's bigger and shinier." And the kids would walk off laughing and calling him Nickel O'Dean. One day, his best friend asked, "why do you always choose the nickel?" Timmy leaned over, with that big goofy grin on his face, and whispered, "because they'll stop giving me nickels if I ever take the dime." |
